Sudanese Opposition protest for closure of illegal prisons

Many Sudanese are protesting in Khartoum for the closure of all illegal prisons. The protest came after the country’s emergency services were accused of torturing and killing an individual.

The country’s emergency services have been accused of committing war crimes in Darfur during the rule of former President Omar Hassan al-Bashir.

There has been a lot of controversy over the role of the emergency services after a person named Baha’i al-Din al-Nori he was arrested while sitting at a coffee shop last month .

The protest is Organized by The Sudan Professionals Association which has the lion’s share in the President Omar Hassan al-Bashir’s ouster.

A member of the Association , Amar al-Baqer, said the protest was aimed at closing illegal detention centers and enabling only police to arrest people in accordance with the law.
